New blog location

I've moved the blog to I'll fix the link on this site as soon as I get a chance.

Bringing this back. There will be updates, and references to my upcoming business. Stay tuned.

It's official... this site is dead.

Yup, I admit it. Having a two year old, two dogs, and an insanely busy job equals no blog posts or site updates. See my Facebook for what's going on.

I'll eventually end up maintaining the site. I still plan to make my web comic, but I've got to get things in order at home first. Once Ry plays on his own more, we'll have more time... THEN the comic can begin!

Web Comic?

posted Jun 29, 2012, 10:33 PM by Ray Boston

Okay, I've been completely ignoring this website. FaceBook pretty much covers anything I'd want to post here... this is a lot less cluttered, though, for family and friends that actually care what we post. Of course, it'd help if Kelly posted now and then...

So, I'll fix the photo albums (accidentally had some of Kelly breastfeeding, and had to make it "private," which broke the link. I'll make new albums to post, that AREN'T my entire photo collection; that will solve that problem. They'll be posted when I fix them.

And one last thing: I'm thinking of doing something productive with this domain. I'm thinking "web comic." Of course, I'm no artist... but a little practice, build up a storyline, and figure out how to get my stuff uploaded without a scanner... and maybe with a little help, I'll have something worth having a website for! :-)

Right now, I'm sketching a few characters. I'm thinking they'll be based off our real life selves, but loosely. Kelly's already thinking "cat girl" for hers, and I'm thinking "squirrel boy" for Ryosuke. Kelly's looks... okay for a beginning, but took me WAY too long to draw. Mine so far just looks like I'm crazy... Ryosuke, I'm going to have to start from scratch.

So... now... where to start my story...?

Coming to the site...

I'm going to try to update this more often - we have a few things we want to add. First off, we have been keeping a running tally of what Ryosuke has cost us so far... and what he would have cost if we weren't in the military, or getting things from people. The plan is to keep a running bill for when he graduates high school... ;-)
I also want to add a place to post when he reaches different milestones - or "achievements." Some of it will be the typical stuff... "turned over," "laughed," etc... Other things will be more humorous... "puked on both parents at once," "spat up into daddy's open mouth."
I hope to add a lot more pictures to this as well, among other things... and develop the site to be a little less canned.

Growing boy...

Today is Ry's 5th month birthday. Wow, he's growing fast. As of 4 months, he was 12 lbs, 12 oz, 24.5" long, and had a 41 cm head. A little under-weight, but that's probably from when we had to bottle feed him for a while. Kelly had her gall bladder removed on 9th of September, and couldn't breast feed him while she was on the pain medications. I had a whole week where I took off work and played "Mr. Mom."

No rest for the weary...

Back to work for me. Ryosuke's over a month old now, and Kelly and I still don't get sleep. No surprise, though... pretty standard fare for a newborn. Kelly, Ry and I are doing well, figuring things out. We still plan on making a page to track Ry's expense. If we keep up with it, I expect the total will be astronomical by the time he moves out on his own. ;-)

The Chibi Weevil is born!!

Ryosuke Kenji Boston was born on May 17th, 2011, at 6:12 am EST. He was 19.8 inches long, and 7lbs, 2.8oz. Kelly only labored for 6 hours, and once the doctors said "push," he was out in 5 contractions. There were no complications (other than a little tearing on Kelly's part), and he and mommy have had no health issues. He latched on to Kelly in 20 minutes (once he got the chance...), and was lifting his little head within 24 hours. The hospital kept Kelly and Ry for 48 hours, but Ry didn't want to leave - he decided to soil himself, and then be hungry, and then soil himself again, before we could leave! Ba-chan (Kelly's mom) flew in on the 18th, and will be with us for a few weeks to lend a helping hand. Grandpa is coming to visit at the end of the month. The puppies love their new housemate. They love to sniff him, and they curl up near Kelly when she's holding Ry. Sylvie even tries to guard him! Ry doesn't mind the puppy kisses... much.

Still need stuff!

Well, Kelly had her baby shower, and we got lots of great stuff! We have the nursery done, clothes ready... we still need a few items, though. Take a peek at Kelly's registry on the Babies 'R' Us website to see what we still need. The short list, though, is:
Mattress - $150
Baby Monitor - $280
Humidifier - $40
ErgoBaby - $115 (baby carrier - in store only, or go to Amazon)
ErgoBaby Infant Insert - $37.95 (in store only, or go to Amazon)

Kelly's on week 34, and she's ready for our son to be born. He's really active, and starting today, has been really beating her up. She's got a date for the baby shower - April 17th. I've got the nursery mostly cleared out, now I just have to finish and build the baby furniture we DO have. After the baby shower, my mom is sending us the crib, and then we'll have it all ready for baby's arrival!

We have a few ideas for names. We want a Japanese name and an American name, but we're not sure which we want first. We're settled on Ryosuke for the Japanese name, but right now it's between Jason and Daniel for the American name. I'm sure we will make a decision by the time we make it to the delivery room...
